American Red Cross Preparedness Programs help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.  Today's innovative programs also include teaching lay persons and professionals how to use automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to save victims of sudden cardiac arrest.

The Red Cross constantly strives to respond to the preparedness concerns of Americans at home, in school and in the workplace.  The Red Cross is the premier provider of health and safety courses, with nearly 11 million people trained across the nation last year and 11,000 trained locally.

Modules:

Standard First Aid, Adult CPR, and Infant & Child CPR

Description:  

These three courses are each offered individually in an evening module or together in an all-day Saturday course.

Cost for one module is $30, for two modules is $50, and for all three modules is $60.  Enrollment in modules must be made at the same time to get the discounted price and you must bring your workbook to each subsequent class.

Pre-enrollment is required for all our courses and refunds are made only if classes are cancelled with at least 24 hours notice.

 

Title:

Standard First Aid with Adult, Infant & Child CPR

Description:  

First Aid with Adult, Infant and Child CPR is one of our most popular community courses.  This course combine lectures, demonstrations and video with hands-on training and practice.  Participants will learn to recognize and respond to emergencies including shock, cardiac and breathing emergencies for adults, children and infants, heat and cold emergencies, sudden illnesses and poisonings.  Additionally, participants will learn first aid for everything from cuts and scrapes to muscle, bone and joint injuries.  The certification for the CPR modules of this class are for one year and the first aid module certification is for three years.

This course is offered from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the following Saturdays:

  • June 26th, 2010
  • July 31st, 2010

Class fee is $60.  Pre-enrollment is required.

 

Title:

Adult CPR (Adult CPR with AED)

Description:  

For the person who only needs adult CPR training, this hands-on skills training prepares them to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults.  AED training is available upon request for an additional fee of $5 and thirty additional minutes of training (added to the end of the class).  The certification for this course is for one year (for both Adult CPR and Adult CPR with AED).

This course is offered from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (or 6 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. if enrolled in AED training) on the following Tuesday nights:

  • April 6th, 2010
  • May 4th, 2010
  • June 8th, 2010
  • July 6th, 2010

Class fee is $30 for Adult CPR or $35 for Adult CPR with AED.  Pre-enrollment is required.

 

Title:

Standard First Aid

Description:  

Learn the skills needed to prevent, recognize, and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses until advanced medical care arrives.  This course covers first aid in an approach that complements adult learning styles, features hands-on practice and real-life scenarios, and meets OSHA First Aid Training Guidelines.  The certification for this course is for three years.

This course is offered from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the following Thursday nights:  

  • February 11th, 2010
  • March 11th, 2010
  • April 8th, 2010
  • May 6th, 2010
  • June 10th, 2010
  • July 8th, 2010

Class fee is $30.  Pre-enrollment is required.

 

Title:

Infant & Child CPR

Description:  

Designed for child-care providers, teachers, parents and others who care for children, this course teaches participants to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in infants and children up to 8 years in age.  The certification for this course is for one year. 

This course is offered from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the following Tuesday nights: 

  • February 11th, 2010
  • March 23rd, 2010 (two weeks after the March Adult CPR class due to spring break)
  • April 13th, 2010
  • May 11th, 2010
  • June 15th, 2010
  • July 13th, 2010

Class fee is $30.  Pre-enrollment is required.

 

Title:

CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (CPR/AED for the Healthcare Provider)

Description:  

This course teaches two-rescuer CPR for adults, infants and children, use of body substance isolation, precautions to prevent disease transmission, use of resuscitation and bag-valve masks, and the use of an AED for the victims of sudden cardiac arrest.  The certification for this course is now two years for health care providers and one year for lifeguards.

This course is scheduled on an as-needed basis (call 405-321-0591).

Class fee is $60.
